![]() 701 East Marshall Street West Chester, Pennsylvania 19380 (610) 431-5000 Overview of The Chester County HospitalAt the core of The Health Network of The Chester County Hospital is the 113-year old, 234-bed, not-for-profit Hospital. Well known for its comprehensive maternal/child health, women's health services, orthopedic services, oncology and medical/surgical services, the acute care facility has grown from a small 10-bed dispensary to a complete network featuring an array of health services. A host of outpatient services complete the Network, with physical therapy and sports medicine, occupational health, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, fitness, ambulatory surgery and home care services.
The Cancer Center of Chester County has been a member of the University of Pennsylvania Cancer Network since 1992 and has been a joint service of the Hospital and of the Abramson Cancer Center of the University of Pennsylvania since 1998. The Center offers cancer patients today's most up-to-date treatment in a setting close to home. Outpatient facilities are also conveniently located in West Chester, Coatesville, and Kennett Square. The Center's eight board-certified medical oncologists, along with radiation oncologists, and cancer specialists, provide a multidisciplinary approach to patient care. An approach to care that also occurs on The Chester County Hospital's inpatient Oncology Unit, which is staffed with highly trained registered nurses and caters to the many special needs of cancer patients. The Radiation Oncology Center, operated jointly with the University of Pennsylvania Health System's Department of Radiation Oncology, provides patient evaluation, treatment, and follow-up care and is overseen by full-time board-certified Penn radiation oncologists. Areas of specialization include brain, breast, gastrointestinal, genitourinary and prostate, colorectal, gynecologic, head, neck, and lung cancers. Cutting edge technology such as Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) provides patients with more accurate, less invasive treatment. A Breast Navigator is available to guide women through the experience of breast cancer ? from scheduling and preliminary testing to treatment, recovery and follow-up. The Chester County Hospital has maintained approval from the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons since 1971 and continues to commit itself to the Commission's high quality standards.
